ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Megan. As a business owner myself, I know there can be a thousand small tasks that have to be done before getting down to the reason you started your business, whether that’s working on a new product, teaching a class, or making art. It has given me a great appreciation for doing the small things well, and clearing the runway for a business’s main purpose with efficient systems and creative, proactive thinking. A few of my super powers:

  • Keeping both the big picture and nitty gritty details in focus
  • Finding small but impactful changes for a more efficient and comfortable workflow
  • Good horse sense. This means I have instincts that have been honed over a decade, good for making decisions on your behalf and keeping your brain clear for other things!

FAQs

Q: How does this work?

A: Good question! And it’s a little different with each client, because every business and person is unique. But we’ll start with a kickoff meeting where I’ll pepper you with questions. I’ll get an idea of your current situation/team, and get a few tasks to start with – these will allow me to get a concrete start and get some boots on the ground experience with how you work.

For the first six months, we’ll meet weekly for 30 minutes over Zoom. This will allow for rapid fire Q&A, any coworking that needs to happen, trust building – and for me to see how you make decisions (the end goal here is that I’ll be able to make some decisions on your behalf, and parse which things to bring to you/which to manage for you).

So much of the magic happens just in working together to accomplish goals over the months; I will say that voice memos are a life saver in communication, particularly towards the beginning (it’s fast, and conveys tone!).

Q: I don’t have a lot of time to delegate. Will this work for me?

A: Yes. Thanks to a background in freelance journalism, I’m in my element when I’m given parameters and a deadline, with the understanding that I’ll take a project and run with it. In the early days of working together, I’ll work with you to make sure I understand the big picture and how you like to do things, but the goal is to create a partnership where you can send a quick message, and I take it from there.

Q: How do I know where your time is going?

A: I use a software called TimeCamp to track my hours. Every second I spend working is logged there (not just in digits! I also include notes on how the time was spent). Every billing period, you’ll receive a timesheet that you’re able to review as needed.

Q: I don’t want to use up all your hours for admin work. Is there an in-between rate?

A: Kind of! I have contacts in the virtual assistant world who I can bring in for admin work. I’ll still oversee their work and payment, so this won’t be any extra work for you – but it’s a good option to diversify your team.
